I am Michelle Whiffin, a contemporary artist and educator based in Queensland. Working across painting and video installation, my practice deeply examines the feminine archetype, isolation, and the complex layers of human relationships. I frequently contrast passive, decorative aesthetics with visceral exposures of autonomy. By utilizing vibrant pop colors, graphic text, and historical vanitas symbolism, my work disrupts traditional narratives. I treat my canvases and installations as visual palimpsests, layering and obscuring meaning to explore the cyclical nature of life, decay, and rebirth.
